Abstract: The timely delivery of civil infrastructure projects holds immense significance. In the private sector, delays can profoundly impact a company’s financial well-being. Similarly, in the public sector, project delays affect residents’ benefit realization, satisfaction with services, and overall community well-being. Additionally, every asset has a finite lifetime, inherently tied to time considerations that impose urgency on rehabilitation projects. Project management methodologies play a pivotal role in achieving successful project outcomes within specified timeframes. However, the conventional one-size-fits-all approach falls short, especially in the context of civil infrastructure asset delivery. Organizations grapple with unique needs and contextual intricacies, demanding tailored solutions. While established methodologies like PMI and PRINCEII recognize the importance of adaptability, practical steps for organizations to modify these practices remain elusive. This article addresses a critical dilemma faced by local councils responsible for diverse projects—ranging from local footpaths and kerb ramps to expansive intersections, civil infrastructure (roads, pathways, buildings, bridges), play equipment, landscapes, and water infrastructure. Drawing from extensive experience, this article delves into the crucial aspect of Methodology Modification and suggest guidelines empower practitioners to seamlessly align methodologies, ensuring timely delivery of civil infrastructure assets, maximizing efficiency, and ultimately enhancing resident satisfaction and community well-being.
