Abstract: After higher-than-average rainfall and significant rain inundation resulting in declared weather events in late 2021 and 2022, our road networks experienced deterioration. Drainage systems are essential in ensuring water can move away from our road pavements. Investigating the impacts of water within our pavements and corresponding rehabilitation treatments, revealed some unusual pavement configurations. This paper will share some learnings from the Darling Downs District's recent rehabilitation projects. Learnings will be shared from both the design phase of identifying the issue (where often water has a part to play), rectifying treatment selection and through construction where ensuring the right amount of water incorporation is essential.
