Abstract: | The Kleinton Waste Management Facility delivers positive outcomes for the Toowoomba Region through sustainable waste management practices. The $18 million project incorporates a new waste transfer station and involved the relocation of waste and the rehabilitation of the existing landfill. The facility is designed for a 25-year life with an expansion option to cater for the waste service needs of the northern urban areas of the Toowoomba Region for the next 50 years. The Kleinton Waste Management Facility project won The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland 2021 Environment and Sustainability category, the $10 million to $20 million project category, and was nominated as one of the top five projects of the year. |
