Development of a Resilient Road Infrastructure Guideline (RRIG) has been identified by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) as a necessary resource to assist in providing solutions for road treatments that can be incorporated in reconstruction works for improved resilience of the road network. Since 2011 there has been $17.8B spent on recovery and reconstruction on the road network in Queensland following natural disasters and these costs have been forecast to grow each year. Historical information has identified that roads which are prone to repeated damage and require significant reconstruction works may, by appropriate restoration treatments at the time, minimise damage resulting from future disaster events. This approach could improve community resilience during and after future events. IPWEAQ-QNT is delivering the RRIG project on behalf of QRA and it has engaged GenEng to provide technical assistance to the Steering Committee in the preparation of this resource. This presentation will discuss the project delivery to date, provide background information from literature survey results, research, various case studies, and a gap analysis, which will be used as input into the development of the RRIG document.en_US
