Abstract: Over the past twenty years, there has been a significant increase in the utilisation of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) materials in civil and structural applications. This increase has been observed in the construction of new structures such as bridges, boardwalks, jetties, utility and light poles, etc. Engineers, contractors, and stakeholders have favoured GFRP materials due to their exceptional qualities such as a high weight-to-strength ratio, durability, and corrosion resistance. This presentation will provide a good overview of the manufacturing process of this highly engineered material, and examples of various projects where GFRP material have been utilised.
