Abstract: Ventia is the 25-year Operations and Maintenance (O&M) provider on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing Project, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. We commenced operations upon partial opening of the road in December 2018. The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC), now known as the Toowoomba Bypass, is a 42-kilometre road which runs to the north of Toowoomba from the Warrego Highway to the Gore Highway via Charlton. Conceived to provide a safer alternative range crossing, by redirecting traffic (especially freight) from the Toowoomba CBD, the TSRC vastly enhances freight efficiencies across Queensland and linking through to Melbourne as part of the National Land Freight Network. Key services delivered by Ventia as the O&M provider: • Incident Response • 24/7 Toll Road Control Centre Operations and Management which monitors 27 cameras, 7 overhead VMS signs, 4 intersections including traffic lights, 30 vehicle classifiers and network weather station. • Vegetation control including areas around fauna fencing. • Pavement maintenance including lifecycle modelling incorporating treatment selection and delivery. • Structure maintenance and inspections. • Environmental and Sustainability management • Intelligent Transport System (ITS) including vehicle classifiers, overhead VMS, CCTV, STREAMS and Divtel • Asset Management including system, predicted modelling for deterioration, programming of lifecycle maintenance activities Project specific outcomes • High Pressure Sodium (HPS) to LED light fittings replacement program o Driving down energy consumption and improving sustainability outcomes o Reduces safety risks associated with maintenance on the lights – e.g. working at heights o Lowers maintenance cost for client o Reduces road user impacts associated with any closures to perform more frequent maintenance o Better overall outcome for road users and community • Health and Safety proactive HSR Committee • Attend external TMOLG meetings with key industry stakeholders • Workforce diversity and development >25% female staff About Ventia Ventia is a leading essential infrastructure services provider in Australia and New Zealand, proudly providing the services that keeps infrastructure working for our communities. Ventia also builds, operates and maintains water and sewerage assets for several customers in Queensland, including Urban Utilities and Port of Brisbane.
