The Tooan Tooan foreshore catchment area is the heart of the original Hervey Bay settlement area, directly fronting the expansive bay, subject to risks from catchment flooding, coastal hazards, climate change and development intensification. Fraser Coast Regional Council is undertaking multiple projects to identify and quantify the flood and coastal risks, sensitivity to future climate impacts, viable engineering solutions and required planning controls to ensure the future development of this location achieves an appropriately balanced development outcome, addresses identified natural hazards, actively improves community resilience and provides for the protection of high value natural assets. The presentation will provide an overview of the separate projects, how their cumulative findings provide the bigger picture needed to properly inform future infrastructure and planning needs and the challenges in communicating project outcomes and implementing solutions.en_US
