Abstract: | Recent developments on the dual & conflicting role of Local Government Superintendents & the position with respect to QBCC licensing. The role of the Superintendent on Local Government projects regularly creates conflict when distinguishing between the obligations under the contract versus the status of the Superintendent as an employee of the Council. There is a further overlay which has been gaining prominence in the past couple of months, particularly with respect to the requirement for a Superintendent to be licensed under the QBCC Act if ‘building work’ is part of the project’s scope. This paper will provide delegates with a current ‘snapshot’ of the regulatory position in Queensland and how to navigate the commonly encountered scenarios on local government projects. |
