dc.description.abstractIntegrated the former departments of Queensland Transport and Main Roads into the new Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) (page 4). • Completed 44 road safety projects (81 projects for the year) under the Safer Roads Sooner (SRS) Program (page 59). • Delivered our $3.6bn road program of works for the fourth consecutive year, sustaining employment for more than 28,000 people (page 56). • Continued the rollout of the STREAMS system to integrate Transport and Main Roads’ and Brisbane City Council’s (BCC) traffic signal network in order to enhance traffic management and improve travel time (page 76). • Constructed 17 bridges under the Regional Bridge Renewal Program (RBRP) (page 58). • Continued construction on the Boggo Road Busway, Northern Busway, Eastern Busway and the South-East Busway to improve public transport and reduce travel times (page 17). • Supported investment in new coal infrastructure with the expansion of the Port of Abbot Point coal terminal to 25 million tonnes per annum (page 22). • Provided $13.6m for new and upgraded recreational boating facilities and related services (page 37). • Amended legislation to introduce free-flow tolls from 1 July 2009, as well as introduction of the new Queensland driver licence (page 24). • Commenced implementation of the Transport Security (Counter-Terrorism) Act 2008 (page 32)en_US
