Abstract: In this informative and entertaining session, Professor Alan patching will take you through the steps in the development of human behaviour and show how much of what we do is done subconsciously, for better AND for worse in terms of effect on others AND ourselves. Alan will show how the best of our behaviour contributes to others' perception of our personalities and then, when we misapply or overdo the very strengths by which we become corporately identified, they become weaknesses in the eyes of those affected, often to the detriment of our relationships and careers. He will relate this phenomena of human psychology to real life situations from his decades in senior management before entering the world of research and academia, and discuss how self and other awareness, two major pillars of modern Emotional Intelligence, can help us relate much better to the communities which we serve.
