Title: Protecting our Industry - Proposed changes to the manner in which Projects are administered
Authors: Bradbury, Matt
Tags: Construction Law;Engineering Law
Issue Date: May-2017
Publisher: Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland
Abstract: With increased insolvency in the Construction Industry in Queensland, Matt will identify common ‘red flags’ that Councils should be aware of so that the impact of a potential insolvency event can be minimised and hopefully managed in the bests interests of the Community. This presentation will also work through the effects of the most recent amendments to the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (Qld). Included in the discussion will be how the recent changes have affected the payment and adjudication process in Queensland, and how proposed further changes, including the introduction of project bank accounts, will affect the payment flow from Councils to Subcontractors.
