Abstract: The Transport and Main Roads Departments Transport Policy Branch has commissioned ground breaking modelling to analyse the likely impacts of autonomous vehicles on Queensland’s transport network and people’s travel behaviour. Peter will talk about the findings of this work in detail. The modelling is believed to be among the first of its kind in the world to assess the congestion impacts for different scenarios for the take up of autonomous vehicles and ride sharing technologies. The modelling provides a tool for developing the policy settings required to enable Queensland to position itself to effectively respond to the challenges posed by the emergence of autonomous vehicle technology.
