Abstract: Logan City Council has embarked on an innovative journey to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its asset management practices. The project has seen significant milestones, including the creation of a data working platform, the successful development of several asset AI detection models, and the subsequent integration of these AI technologies into the city’s asset management decision making process. As one of the fastest-growing cities in Australia, Logan City Council is at the forefront of leveraging AI to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its asset management practices. Despite these advancements, the utilisation of AI in local government presents several challenges. These include data quality issues, the need for specialised expertise, success measurements, and the integration of AI systems into existing infrastructure. To address these challenges, the Regional Asset Intelligence Group (RAIG) was established in 2023. RAIG's mission is to assist government agencies by identifying suitable AI technologies, improving the awareness of AI uses in local government asset management, and setting standards for various asset types within the AI industry.
