Abstract: Expectations of the public regarding the level of service provided by the road network are increasing over time. Unsealed roads are often seen as being not acceptable, due to concerns such as dust nuisance, corrugations, loose material, environmental issues and safety. Somerset Regional Council has developed an update to the prioritisation process that is used by to support the determination and validation of the highest priority unsealed roads for upgrading. The process provides further clarity for residents of the decision process for upgrading roads.
